Mary was just finishing wrapping the book and Video game she got the boys. It wasn't their birthday or Christmas the Sheriff got them a little something just to try to make them smile, Henry especially. It seemed he never really smiled any more and that just broke her heart. Children should be all silly smiles and laughs, not all doom and gloom. Picking up the gifts she walked out of her office laid them out on one of the empty desks.Maybe I should talk to Mayor Gold about hiring more people here. Mary turned upon hearing the main station doors open. Mary took a few steps back to check to see who came through. To her relief it was only Henry, she really didn't feel like messing with Regina or the headache that would follow.Yeah just in time sweetie, come on I got you something. Mary crooked her pointer finger, a large smile on her face.

Henry was upset and once again feeling very depressed, it looked a bit like he had been crying and maybe he had, after all he had another argument with his mum Regina, things were getting worse and Henry well Henry hated her, she did not care about him at all he was sure of it. As their argument had come to an end Henry had run out of the house with his backpack planning on running away, the only place he could think of going though was the castle. Instead though he found himself at the police station, he had no idea why he had gone there he just wanted to, maybe it was because of Sheriff Blanchard she was always nice to him.
As soon as he entered she noticed him and spoke as if she had been expecting him had she, he looked up at her wiping his eyes quickly hoping she could not see that he was upset. He walked closer interested at mention of getting him something, the young ten year old looked up at her trying to smile and be happy but it wouldn't come instead he just ran into her hugging the sheriff instead, still upset but trying his best not to cry.

Mary notice the tear streaks on Henry's face, he another fight with Regina. What happen now honey? she crooked finger to get him to come closer. A bright smiled played on her lips, the brunette hoped Henry would fine some joy in her gift. Placing her hands up to stop him before the little boy reached the corner.Close your eyes I have a surprise for you.The sheriff waited for Henry to so. Their fighting had gotten worse , at first it was over little things. Picking up the the present she turned around to HenryHere pumpkin maybe this will brighten your day. Mary held out the book to him, she just wanted to see him smile a real smile like he use to do. But the whole mess of him and Regina started.

Henry wiped his eyes again as Sheriff Blanchard spoke to him but that did not change the fact he was upset, and still unsure of what he wanted to do, maybe staying in the station with Sheriff Blanchard was a good idea, either way he was not going home. The young ten year old sniffled and looked up at her with wet eyes as she told him to stop as he tried to come around the corner. He did as he was told and closed his eyes, and stopped sniffling for a moment and just waited patiently feeling a little excited at the idea of a present. When he opened his eyes again he saw what she was holding a book, which read Once Upon A Time. He reached his hands's out to take it trying to smile only succeeding in a half smile "th.....thank you," he said between sniffles wiping his eyes once more, before taking a bigger look at the book having a guess at what it was "Is it a Storybook?" He asked this before suddenly hugging her still sniffling.

Watching Henry wipe his eyes some of his lashes matting together because of tears.Oh your good, are you sure your not physic? she laughed and smiled hopping he would giggle, laugh show some kind of youthful spirit of that of a child his age. Walking over to her desk she pulled out a box of tissues for him.Sweetie don't use your hand to wipe your eyes here use the tissues. placing the box on the desk, she sat on the desk top.Open it Mary point waved her hand at him trying to get him excited about. you don't have to thank me that's what friends do. They give each other hope when there isnt any in sight. The sheriff smiled and lightly kicked her legs back forth. Letting her oxfords hit the side of the metal desk.

Henry did actually giggle when Sheriff Blanchard asked him if he was psychic not that it last long it was short and it did not sound as happy as it should've been, he understand Sheriff Blanchard was trying to make him feel better, she was a nice person a good person, he did not understand why his Mum hated her. He took a tissue and wiped his eyes with it trying not to cry, wanting to stay brave for the Sheriff he watched her put the box down and Henry walked over to hit looking at it curiously opening it and taking out the storybook. He looked up as Sheriff Blanchard talked about it being what friends did, it actually made Henry smile, smile that there really was someone who cared about him, unlike his mum who he felt did not care about him. "I.... you really care about me?" He asked her already knowing the answer but he just wanted confirmation that someone did he felt so down and lonely. He listened to what she said and suddenly started crying again hugging into Sheriff Blanchard, "I don't want to go back."

Mary was shocked when Henry hugged her, this tiny little boy was so filled with angst she just wanted to take his pain away.of course I do sweet heart. I care about you and your brother. I didn't mean to upset I just wanted to give you little piece of happiness she didn't let go the sheriff just rubbed his back let him get his tears out of his system.
After about ten minutes Mary moved so she could kneel in front of Henry. Twisting her upper body a grabbed a few tissues out of the box. Turning back the brunette began to wipe his cheeks off.Now tell me whats going on Henry? Why don't you want to go home? The sheriff in her took over she wonder if the council woman was cruel to her children . Does she hurt you or your brother? You know if she does I can help you get away from her.

Henry loked up at her and shook his head "you didn't upset me it's just her,I love your gift, you one of the few that want's to help," he explained to her through the tears, trying to get it across that him being upset was in no way Sheriff Blanchards fault it was his mum's fault. Henry tried to calm down as Sheriff Blanchard rubbed his back, he felt a bit better and safer but the tears still kept flowing.
She was now on his own level as she had kneeled down in front of him something always made Henry feel better like being treated as an equal instead of being looked down upon. He had not stopped crying but the tears were flowing less now and he smiled a little as Sheriff Blanchard wiped off his cheeks, he felt a bit better and he let her do it she was gentle and caring. "i don't want to go home because she hate's me, she makes my life miserable she shouts at me all the time and she's just horrible, my life suck's" he told her honestly shaking his head when she mentioned her hurting them "no she doesn't harm us, she just doesn't love us or care about us, I hate her."

Mary dropped her hands after she wiped all of his tears off his face, furrowing her brows when he told her, that didn't love Daniel or him. True Regina could be cold but surely the council woman wouldn't be that way with her own children. I'm she is just trying to be encouraging in her own way. What all does she say to you sweetie?Stilling kneeling on the ground leaned back to where she could rest her booty on her calves. Mary was hoping it wasn't anything major , just a little do your homework, watch less TV,and clean up more. The normal parent child things, but her gut knew that with Regina nothing was ever half way. The sheriff started to fiddle with her ring as her mind began to think of all different kind of argument she could have with this sweet little boy. You shouldn't feel that pumpkin,(she reached out to squeezed his little hand) when ever life is getting to much run to the station. I will help you ,I promise you. Mary didn't know why she was doing this but she felt like she had this connection with the twins. The brunette just wanted to see them safe. Henry Mills

Henry was still upset that much was clear but the boy seemed a little bit better now plus he was no longer crying, or at least there were no tears left to cry out, those that had been on his face had been dried off by Sheriff Blanchard. He shook his head when she mentioned his mum was most likely just trying to be encouraging. He sniffled a few times before speaking again, "She's just evil anything I do she has ago at me for, she won't let me do anything and she....... she lied," Henry sniffled he had known this for some time, but it still hurt to find out the truth and that his 'mother' had been lying to him all this time. "She never told us we were adopted," it was still an issue for Henry event hough he had known for a long time, it was a reason he was upset plus he wanted to know who his birth mother was and why she gave him and Daniel up in the first place. Henry's smile returned as Sheriff Blanchard told him he could rely on her and he could always run back to her if life got to much, he did not feel better but he always found he liked the sheriff she was awesome and cool. He nodded as she spoke believing that yes she would help him, he could trust her. He closed his eyes as she squeezed his hand causing him to smile again before letting out a tired yawn. "But it's true she doesn't care, she only care's about herself, she's horrible." He looked at Sheriff Blanchard then around at the station before back at her coming to a decision. "I don't want to go back can I stay with you for the night," he asked seriously giving her an innocent puppy dog look as he said it, "please."

Mary frowned she knew the boys were adopted, she didn't know what to say. Instead she reached out and held his tiny hand."Honey, family isn't always blood your mother loves you. I can see it every time see looks at both of you boys." Sighing Mary could understand why Regina hadn't told them. Why cause such pain and discomfort for someone so young."I'm sure your mother was to going to tell you when you got older." Standing up feeling her knees pop and crack, so she was feeling every bit her today. Rubbing her hands on sides of blue jeans, Mary was trying to think of answer to his question. Closing her eyes,"Okay sweet heart, call Regina tell her where you are staying. So she won't freak out." Henry Mills

"But.... but she lied she was never going to tell us the truth, if she loved me she would let me find out who my real mother is," he told the Sheriff annoyed about that whole argument with his mother still, there was a lot more to it then that but he just gave Sheriff Blanchard a bit of how he felt. He did not believe his mother cared for him, she was evil , nasty and always cruel to others around her. Plus she only cared about herself, he firmly believed given the chance she would never of even told Henry or Daniel. "It's always about her what's best for her not us," he continued wanting to get his point across to the sheriff feeling a lot more comfortable around her than others for some reason. She said yes, Henry found himself grinning all of sudden like a rush of happy emotions had come flying out of him and he hugged her again, "thank you and I'll phone mum thanks for letting me stay," he stopped grinning and ran over to one of the phones and quickly dialled the home number wiping his eyes and sniffling again. It took a while but the phone connected and henry quickly spoke first. "Mum?"

Mary rubbed the bridge of her nose not really sure on how to take the situation that had now unfolded in front her"Henry I know it doesn't seem like it right now. But maybe she lied to protect your feeling. She didn't want you or your brother to feel unwanted?" Sighing she crossed her arms "What if she scared of loosing Daniel and you? That could be the reason for not wanting to tell you?" Knocked back a step or two when Henry hugged she simply smiled down at him and huffed. "Your welcome pumpkin." She stated as she ruffled his dark brown hair. As the child let Mary started to bit her bottom lip and twirled her ring, this was going to get worse with him spending the night. The sheriff knew Regina would ticked off as soon as she was told. Preparing herself for the explosion of words that she knew would could her way as soon as Henry told his mother where he was and if he stay the night. Henry Mills

(Mills estate) Regina runs to the phone her heels clicking across the floor. She hoped it would be Henry"Hello, baby where are you? Tell me and I will come get you." Silence was all the council woman got. "Listen i know your not happy with me but listen ,I was going to tell you I just wanted you to be a little older first." Rubbing her forehead as she proclaim the truth, since he left Regina had been crying non stop. Daniel had stay behind trying to calm her down."I know your not happy with me Henry but I do love you. What?? You want to spend the night with Sheriff Blanchard...oh is that what you truly want?" Henry Mills Mary Margaret Blanchard

Henry said nothing in response because if he did they would get into another argument and right now he didn't want that, plus she would get angry and he would not be allowed to stay with Sheriff Blanchard as she would be too upset and angry with him. He did disagree with what she was saying though, he felt like she should of told them now instead of letting them believe they really where her sons when they were not. Henry at this present moment did not really believe she would of told them ever. "I don't want to come home tonight can I stay with Sheriff Blanchard?" He asked her closing his eyes hoping she would say yes and not no and that he had to come harm and that their would be no discussion about it, Henry would refuse that anyway he really did not want to go home right now. "Ye...yes I really wan't that I'll come home tomorrow I promise," he said though here did not exactly want to promise that but he would not be surprised if she came to collect him in the morning anyway Henry wiped his eyes "is....is that okay mum?" he asked her hoping she would say yes "please."Mary Margaret BlanchardRegina Mills
